Things are revving up for this years’ Midlands Music Festival

Midlands Music Festival is firing on all cylinders with the introduction of a Classic Car Rally showcasing some of the finest American automobiles and more amazing acts just added to the bill. Midlands Music Festival takes place on 28th and 29th July, Belvedere House, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.

Kila, Jim Lauderdale, Richmond Fontaine and Micah P. Hinson have all been added to an already incredible lineup. Originating over thirteen years ago on the streets of Dublin, Kíla have developed from a buskers collective to become one of Ireland's most innovative and creative bands. The street origins of the band and their unique ability to absorb other musical influences are reflected in the music they play. It has given rise to a diverse lineup infused with a modern urban consciousness and a world music sound.

Multi-talented performer and songwriter, Jim Lauderdale has had successes in both Country and Bluegrass music. He is among Nashville's "A" list of songwriters, with songs recorded by artists such as Patty Loveless, Dixie Chicks, Mark Chestnut and Vince Gill.

Richmond Fontaine have built themselves up from an SST cowpunk inspired band to a diverse and at times, amazing live act leading them to be labelled the "Kings of Americana".

Micah P. Hinson catapulted from being a skate-kid down on his luck to making one of the year’s finest and most critically acclaimed debut albums – The Earlies produced - ‘Micah P. Hinson and the Gospel of Progress and traveling the world playing with the likes of Iron & Wine, The Earlies, Devendra Banhart, Smog and most recently being invited on tour with KT Tunstall and Richard Hawley.

Added to the list of American greats who are confirmed for this years festival such as Glen Campbell, Kris Kristofferson and Steve Earle…another great American export will be appearing at Midlands. The American Automobile Association of Ireland will be showcasing some of their finest motors including Chevrolets, 67 Dodge and Dodge Charger, Buicks, Pontiacs Firebirds and Trans Ams, Cadillacs, Ford Torinos and Ford Mustangs.

Considered one of the best contemporary music festivals last summer, Midlands was the first of its kind in Europe with a stellar line up of some of the worlds’ music greats and entertainment for all the family .This years festival promises to be even better with an even more diverse mix of music, keeping the country element for which its famous, but also extending the musical reach. And of course under 12s go free.
