Niall Toner
Niall Toner hails originally from Harold's Cross in Dublin, and is
widely
recognised as one of Ireland's leading authourities on Bluegrass and
American Country Music. He brings his knowledge of music to a wide
audience
through his Radio Show, Roots Freeway, on RTE Radio One, In 2003, Niall's
contribution to Country Music was honoured by the CMA in Nashville,
in the
form of a nomination for a Global Artist Award, and his two all-original
CDs.
Clem O'Brien is well known as Ireland's finest flatpicking guitar
stylist,
and is also famed for his high tenor singing voice, an integral part
of the
sound of the NTB. Dick Gladney is the Band's Double Bass player, and
his experience with The
Flinthill Boys, The Clem O'Brien Band and many other outfits has helped
him
hone his skill on that large instrument, and his steady hand adds greatly
to
the overall sound of the Trio.
The Niall Toner Band has a substantial culmitave repretoire of songs
written
by Hank Williams, Bill Monroe, The Carter Family, Ralph Stanley and
Flatt
and Scruggs, but have concentrated in the past five years on writing,
recording and performing their own material. NTB have released two
all-original, all-acoustic CDs, There's A Better Way [2003], and Mood
Swing
[2005], and are currently working on number three, due for release
in
mid-2007.
